BOLLYWOOD (and could and did!)

This entry is a little late (sorry!) but we've been busy little 12wbt-ers and haven't had time to jump on and report our findings! Bernie's BOLLYWOOD hens party was AWESOME. Despite an amazing amount of RED FLAG craziness (including delicious pastries, cupcakes and nibbles and a never ending booze bar) neither of us gained weight! Perhaps it was something to do with our fitness focus this weekend.

Exercise it:
  • Did our very first PUNCHFIT at Carine Open Space. It was AWESOME. We burned a few extra calories with a little jog around the oval, and took in some beautiful fresh morning air.
  • Did a super hilarious and fun Bollywood dance (and didn't wear our heart rate monitors, after much debate). We learned some silly moves... 'apple picking', 'the camel', 'the gorilla', 'point to your toes', 'isn't my hand lovely?' and 'run around like crazy women' (have had much practice being nuts, so this was easy).
  • Considered doing the DNA tower the next afternoon -  but Perth's weather made it unsafe. Boooo!

Food wise...
  •  Sarah (as a bridesmaid), made sure the party was well stocked with fruit and veg and sparkling water, so we always had good options available. Thanks Sarah !
  • The next day: we made pretty little baggies of sugar almonds for Bernie's wedding and didn't eat many (Bernie ate ONE! - as quality adviser, naturally!)

The funniest thing that night though, was the 'gift bag' from the dance instructor. Inside, was a sequin encrusted 2 piece set (boob tube and pants) the size of a.. um... 4 year old? When I, Bernie, get to my goal weight, (Lord help us) I plan to put it on and dance around for the fun of it. For that evening though.... I wore it on my head !!!

Here are some happy snaps from the evening...

Awesomeness!

Signing off... bindi wearing, bolly struttin' groovesters that we are,

    Blogger Challenge...

    BERNIE SAYS....

    1. Describe yourself in 25 words or less. You can get straight to the point - or bring your creativity into play.

Librarian. Teacher. In love. Overweight. Creative. Thirty-one. Bookish. Colourful. Impatient. Joyful. Arty. Determined. Curly haired. Freckled faced. Aussie.
    I love owls and sunflowers!

    2. What brings you to 12wbt? Getting fitter? Losing weight? (Gaining weight??) Are you first timer, a repeat offender??

In truth, I want to be fit. I want to be slim enough to look cute in a size 12 pair of jeans and I want to walk around without the pain that comes from carrying weight with a back injury. One day I’d like to be a mum. I want to make sure my body is fit enough to do it properly.

    3. Why do you blog??

Blogging is an outlet for creativity and sharing joy and success, as well as challenges. It’s nice to see what other people are doing in this 12WBT journey! 'Hi friends!'

    4. Who is your biggest inspiration in life and why (doesn't have to be weight loss)

Hmm... lots of people inspire me. Right now I'm thinking about how Van Gogh's sunflowers painting made me want to pick up a paint brush. And I'm  thinking about how Victor Hugo's Les Miserables inspired me to love stories and music...

    5. What things in life bring you the most joy?
Weekends, good coffee and excellent company ☺

6.What do you think your greatest challenge is going to be this round?
Well, I am still struggling with snacking – and finding time to exercise.

    7. What are you most excited about 12wbt?
I am most excited about losing weight and doing it with good friends who are on the same journey ☺

    8. And what scares the pants off you?
Not achieving goals because I’m tired.

    9. Tell me - right now - today - how do you feel about exercise in no more than 10 words

I love the way it makes me feel.

    10. Complete this sentence - in 12 weeks time - on the last day of 12wbt I am going to be feeling ____________________

a heck of a lot lighter!!!!

    Achievements!

    CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENTS

Celebrating achievements is an important part of this journey we are on and we are always on the phone or online to share our excitement. When we started this journey with the HBF Run for a Reason, we went and bought a Pandora bracelet each and a charm to represent our first fun run.

    Size 16 Jeans!
This morning was a highlight for me, fitting into my old but basically unworn size 16 jeans! I was so excited about it I did my little happy dance and then grabbed the camera. Here is a photo

Over the next 11 weeks, we hope to share with you many more achievements as they happen, and the additions to our Pandora bracelets as well.

    Until next time...Sarah xxoo

    What's the dealio?

Hello! and welcome to our very first post. We were asked by our super friend Bec Higgs to start blogging our adventures ... so here goes.

As we frequently take photos in random places and post them...we now have a collection of photos which make it appear we have no other friends. We would like to disprove this rumour however this will not be happening in this post!

BUT FIRST...OUR MISSION...(CUE CHEESY MUSIC HERE)

    • To lose a person. Literally. We need to lose a combined weight of 70kg.
    • To do this we have completed Round 2 and have just started Round 3 of Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation.
    • With the support of the awesome PERTH CREW we are going to SMASH this round :)
    • Last round we lost over 10kg but this round we are aiming for 25kg and we have some major RED FLAGS...like Bernie's HENS night, WEDDING, our friend Karen's BABY SHOWER, and we will finish the round with our dear friend Elton (of the John variety) and we shall sing along celebrating our loss.

To introduce ourselves a little further, here are some photos from this year so far..

Here are some examples of former adventures:

Going to 12WBT Round 2 Party
After the 12WBT Round 2 Workout

Round 3 NOR Perth Crew Fitness Test

    TODAY'S ADVENTURE

Today we had the opportunity to hear Lara Whalan and Bob Heardsman from The Biggest Loser speak to the Perth Crew and answer all our crazy questions. It was such an inspiration to see people who have had the challenges and succeeded in the real world. Hearing their experiences in the Biggest Loser House and the craziness of life afterwards and how they dealt with that was inspiring.

Then we headed off to Hyde Park, where we like to do the life trail and read out the quotes on the exercises! We also did some boxing today to keep our heartrates up as Bernie is not allowed to run until she gets her orthodics.

We then headed off to Grill'd for some healthy lunch with Bernie's fiancee Mikey. Did you know that Grill'd does SALADS! I highly recommend the Grill'd Chicken Salad for 293 calorie...delish :)

The evening's festivities included a delish meal to celebrate the end of Round 2 and the beginning of Round 3 with the Perth Crew. There were some seriously inspirational stories...and Sarah won a door prize, which is what it's all about!!! We hope to be inspirational stories in the near future.

For now, we should sign off so we can sleep which is an important element in our weight loss journey.

Stay tuned for next week's entry - Sarah and Bernie go Bollywood and Belly Dance at Bernie's Hens...it's going to be EPIC.
